Pulmonary Consultation
We provide comprehensive care evaluations for patients managing asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, shortness of breath, hypoxemia, and a range of other pulmonary conditions.
Pulmonary function testing (PFT)
A Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure used to assess how well the lungs are functioning. It measures various aspects of lung performance, including lung volume, capacity, flow rates, and gas exchange. These tests help healthcare providers evaluate breathing issues and diagnose respiratory conditions. PFTs provide valuable information about lung health, enabling personalized treatment plans and better management of respiratory conditions.
Why PFTs Are Performed:
● Diagnose conditions like asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, or other lung diseases.
● Monitor the progression of respiratory diseases or the effectiveness of treatment.
● Assess lung function before surgery or in occupational health evaluations.
● Evaluate symptoms such as shortness of breath, chronic cough, or wheezing.
6 Minute Walk Test
A stress test or a 6-minute walk test (6MWT) is essential in pulmonary care as it provides critical insights into a patient’s lung and cardiovascular function during physical activity. These tests help healthcare providers assess exercise capacity, monitor disease progression, and guide treatment plans for individuals with pulmonary conditions.
While the 6MWT focuses on moderate, sustained exertion, a stress test assesses peak exercise capacity and can detect more subtle abnormalities in lung or heart function during high levels of physical activity.
Together, these tests provide a comprehensive view of a patient’s pulmonary and cardiovascular health. By identifying limitations and treatment needs, they play a vital role in improving quality of life and managing pulmonary conditions effectively.
